Using Macro

By downloading, accessing, or using Macro, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The service

Macro helps you track meals, calories, macronutrients, body weight, daily progress, and packaged food information. Some features use AI photo analysis and public product databases to estimate nutrition information.

2. Accounts

Macro currently uses an anonymous device-based account. We do not require an email, password, phone number, or social login. If you reset your profile or reinstall the app, your local device identifier may change and access to the prior anonymous account may be affected.

3. Your responsibility

You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all nutrition entries before relying on them. AI estimates and public database entries can be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate.

4. Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or compromise the service.
• Do not upload content that you do not have the right to use.
• Do not use Macro for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes.

5. Availability and changes

We may update, suspend, change, or discontinue features at any time. We may also update these terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.

6. Limitation of liability

Macro is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or health-related damages arising from your use of the app or reliance on nutrition estimates.

Macro Pro

Macro Pro may unlock premium features such as AI photo scans, barcode insights, custom plans, or advanced tracking tools. Purchases are handled through Apple and may be managed in your Apple ID settings.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings.
• Any free trial, if offered, may be forfeited when purchasing a subscription.

Your data

This Privacy Policy explains what Macro collects and how it is used to provide the app.

1. Information we collect

• Anonymous device identifier used to create and access your account.
• Profile and goal data, such as name, age, height, weight, goal weight, activity level, goal pace, and diet style.
• Meal logs, calorie and macro values, meal photos, serving information, and timestamps.
• Weight entries and progress history.
• Barcode scans and product nutrition details from public product databases.
• Subscription status events from RevenueCat or Apple purchase infrastructure.

2. Meal photos and AI processing

When you use AI photo analysis, your image is uploaded to our backend and may be sent to a third-party AI provider to estimate food name, calories, macronutrients, serving size, and confidence. Photos may be stored with your meal entries so they can be shown in your history.

3. Barcode scans

When you scan or enter a barcode, Macro may query Open Food Facts or similar public product databases. The response may include product name, brand, image URL, nutrition values, ingredients, allergens, Nutri-Score, NOVA group, and related public product metadata.

4. How we use information

• To provide authentication, meal tracking, AI analysis, barcode lookup, and weight tracking.
• To calculate calorie and macro targets based on your inputs.
• To show your history, calendar, streaks, and progress summaries.
• To maintain subscription access and prevent abuse.
• To troubleshoot, secure, and improve the service.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers needed to operate Macro, such as hosting, database, AI analysis, subscription infrastructure, and public barcode lookup services.

6. Storage and deletion

Your data is stored on servers we operate or service providers we use. If account deletion is available in the app, deletion is intended to remove your profile, meals, weights, scans, and related records. Deleting app data does not cancel an active Apple subscription; manage subscriptions from your Apple ID settings.

7. Children

Macro is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

8. International users

By using Macro, you understand your data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to protect data according to this policy.

Nutrition and activity references

Macro uses the following references for calorie, macro, food database, barcode, and Apple Health activity features. App results are estimates and should be reviewed before relying on them.
